Classic Jolt + me = happy.

by Mark on July 27, 2010 0 Comments

Earlier today, erm, yesterday I found a bottle of Jolt at the Famima in the basement of City National Bank tower. Same look, same logo, same taste, new Mountain Dew comparison chart on the side. Fancy. However, a quick Google search lands me on a page where all I see is the Monsterization of Jolt into your everyday, run of the mill energy drink.

Have a look for yourself.

As long as I keep finding the original Jolt in Famima, nobody gets hurt.

Bumpers for Everyone

Just in from Apple,

"Dear Apple Customer, Apple recently announced that iPhone 4 customers who purchased an iPhone 4 Bumper are eligible for a full refund. As of today, we have automatically processed your refund.

Thank you for choosing Apple.

Sincerely, Apple Online Store Support"

Free is great, but I think Apple got railroaded on this one.

Caprica Returns in January

by Mark on July 21, 2010 0 Comments

I most definitely am happy to see the stories of Caprica and the birth of the Cylons live on despite the less outer space nature of the show. The lore of each colony and the backstory of interworld tensions in politics, culture, religion and technology adds some needed context to things we see later in Battlestar Galactica. However, I'd like to see the story sped up a bit, time to go by more quickly and for Centurions to rise in great numbers to take us into the first Cylon war. If the show can keep audiences interested long enough before getting cancelled, I would love for the writers and producers to fill in the gaps hinted at in both the original and reimagined Battlestar Galactica series.

by Mark on July 19, 2010 0 Comments

It finally arrived...the boxed set of The Eleven Doctors. Which Doctors you ask? THE Doctors. Who? Yes. Some nice pictures. And a YouTube review. Now, do I leave them in the box or set them free to save the universe?

"Vampires" on Storm8

by Mark on July 18, 2010 0 Comments

Only a day later and I can't remember how I was drawn to download Storm8's iPhone game, Vampires Live, but I am hooked as all hooked can be.

This game reminds me of the fun of MUDs from my BBS sysop days (that dates me ;) ) but the incentive system is sticky as hell and got me to download their entire library of games (and play each to at least level 5). How did they seduce me? Loyalty Points. You can earn them, you can buy them but they come in handy to extend gameplay when you've spent all your energy, health and frenzy. In my case, they gave me between 10 and 20 Loyalty Points for downloading each of their games onto my phone...smart. I have resisted buying so far...but I can see how those with short attention spans (and a willingness to spend ...
